We Are Going to Oak Harbor!!

The past few days have been filled with a lot of emotion and waiting. We are at the Ministers & Wives Retreat in Gig Harbor, WA., to spend a few days relaxing with friends. The main purpose however, was for Angie and me to meet the "Home Missions" board. We have been approved to start a church in Oak Harbor effective June 1st. So what now? Well, we start the process of buying an RV Trailer and getting jobs there in Oak Harbor. As soon as practical, we will move to Oak Harbor and establish the work. We have a lot of work to do before June.

Please pray for us and for Whidbey Island, WA.

A Home Missions Church?

You can probably guess by now that Angie and I have fallen in love with this place. We have, over the past several months prayerfully considered what God would have us to do. We have decided to ask the Washington District Home Missions Department for permission to start a church in Oak Harbor. That is why I am calling this Blog Oak Harbor UPC. We are scheduled to meet the Board Members tomorrow and Thursday. We have accepted the possibility that this might not be approved...at least not at this time. We are so excited at the prospect of starting a church and seeing it grow. Pray for us as God uncovers His will for us and that we will accept it with thankfulness and grace.

Where is Oak Harbor?

The city of Oak Harbor is located on the north end of Whidbey Island in Washington State and has a population of just over 21,000. NAS Whidbey is located just to the west of the city and adds a large military presence. Whidbey Island itself is located 30 miles north of Seattle and forms the northern boundary of the Puget Sound. The Island is roughly 60 miles long and ranges from 1.5 miles to 12 miles wide. Whidbey has a population of over 60,000 people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whidbey_Island
